Manhattan in motion

This video by Josh Owens summarizes in a brilliant way what New York is all about. I want to go back!

Candle season is starting

As the evenings get darker, it is nice to light a candle. I am just having a visitor from New York who brought me a new kind of candle from US designer DayNa Decker. The candle is in a glass cup and it is made of gel and it has a subtle floral scent to it. The magic of candle happens when it is lit. It makes same kind of noise as burning wood in a fire place. I am already a fan and I just found out that DayNa Decker candles are sold in London too, at Liberty, Harrods and Space NK.

Haiti earthquake

In the last few days it has been devastating to watch and read the sad news from Haiti, where the recent earthquake killed tens of thousands of people and left even more homeless. Many nations have expressed their solidarity by sending humanitarian and financial aid to the area.

First in line was the U.S. which will give US$100,000,000. Finland will give EUR1,250,000 which is about US$1.814.010. I found Singapore's contribution shocking. They will give SGD69,423 or approximately US$50.000. I made a chart to see how these donations match the populations of the mentioned countries. Results below.
