Three star lunch

I had the most amazing lunch last weekend at restaurant Vendôme which is part of the Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg near Cologne. It is no wonder the chef Joachim Wissler has been awarded with three Michelin stars and the restaurant has been voted one of the best in the world.

The food was not just delicious but also well presented and the textures were interesting. Have a look at the photos and pay a visit to them if you happen to be in the neighborhood. However, bookings are essential.

A dessert

I spent last weekend with my friends in Helsinki. They are great cooks. An anatomy of a simple, delicious dessert is pictured here. I just realized I do not have a photo of the result. Too much champagne, I guess.

First time

There is a first time for everything. I lost my virginity for Georgian food at Iberia restaurant today. The name of the restaurant might fool one think it offers Spanish cuisine. But it does not. There is another Iberia. Read the full story here.

I loved the food; earthy and rich, simple and unconstrained, yet delicious.

Bread patterns

Good bread is hard to find in the UK. That is why I always bring excessive amounts of rye bread with me every time I go to Finland. Anyway, I saw good looking bread in London yesterday. The beautiful loafs above were on a display window of a small corner shop off Pall Mall. Unfortunately the shop was closed, so I have no idea are they just lovely on surface or is there more to it.
