The perfect form

I love simplicity and minimalism, to a certain extent. Here are three simple things I have acquired lately.

Pirkka stool by Finnish designer Ilmari Tapiovaara. I also have a bar stool and a dining table from the same range. All bought from twentytwentyone.

I love this nautical window display along Saville Row. When I was taking this photo an American family (with very thick US accent) asked where they could find Abercrombie & Fitch store. I showed them the way but was left wondering why on earth would Americans come to buy A&F in London where it is almost double priced compared to the US. Another thing to wonder is why to buy A&F at all...

Camilla's tears

I had a lovely dessert moment at my friends' place last Saturday. It was the eve of 1st of May and my ever surprising friends had decorated their dining table with miniature dollhouse furniture with amazing details.

This gives an idea of the scale. The lovely heart topped cupcakes are called Camilla's Tears as HRH Duchess of Cornwall was the only member of the British royal family to shed a tear at Westminster Abbey wedding service.

Chairs needed

This week I read some interesting news. Finnish design furniture retailer Boknäs is starting the reproduction of Eliel Saarinen's Blue Chairs in collaboration with furniture maker Adelta. The art deco style Blue Chair was originally designed in 1929. I love the shape of the chair, not to mention the patterns! I would love to get a pair of Blue Chairs for my hopefully-new-home-to-be.

Finnish print ads from the 1950's

Pommac is a non-alcoholic Finnish soft-drink. It is still in production.

Riihimäen Lasi Oy was a Finnish art class manufacturer. Some of their works are design icons these days.

I love the innocent feel these ads have. The ads are from this book.

Tourist Guide of Finland 1952

I bought a tourist guide book of Finland from year 1952 at a second hand book store in Seinäjoki last summer. I fell in love with the book's cover, but I found more treasures inside. Look at Helsinki's poster and map - are they not adorable? Finnish Tourist Board should try something like this when branding Finland and not those so-last-season reindeers.
